We engineered its entire digital platform end to end — DevOps, architecture, backend and frontend. Everything here is ours; the only piece we don't run is the live TV signal itself, which is fed from Bucharest. - **Client:** DGTA Media S.R.L. - **Services:** DevOps, Architecture, Backend, Frontend, Headless CMS - **Category:** Web Dev, Media Platform - **Interval:** 2022 – Present - **Status:** Live and maintained by us since 2022 (live TV signal fed from Bucharest) - **Website:** https://tvrmoldova.md/ ## Problem & Solution A public broadcaster's site is several products under one logo: a newsroom that never sleeps, an archive of shows like Telejurnal and Europa Azi, and a live channel — all expected to be instant on a phone. And it never stands alone: TVR MOLDOVA is one node in the Romanian Television Society's network, next to TVR 1, TVR 2, TVR 3, TVRi, the regional studios and Știrile TVR. We engineered the whole thing end to end — DevOps, architecture, backend and frontend. A headless newsroom CMS (Superdesk) feeds an API-first delivery layer we built, so every article and show is just data, served the same way to the website and the apps. The single piece that isn't ours is the live TV signal, which Bucharest provides; we built the platform that wraps around it. Heavy media — images, posters, galleries — lives on S3-compatible object storage behind a CDN, so a reader on a weak rural connection gets the same instant page as the capital. We own the pipeline from deploy to delivery; the newsroom publishes once and the platform does the rest. ## Live & On Demand News and television share one stage: the same grid carries a breaking story, on-demand episodes and the live channel. The live signal comes from Bucharest — we built the player and the experience around it, with shows available on demand. Because TVR MOLDOVA is part of a wider family, the top bar links out to its sibling channels — TVR 1, TVR 2, TVR 3, TVRi, the regional studios, Știrile TVR and TVR PLUS. ## Mobile First Most of the audience arrives on a phone, so the phone got designed first. The reading experience, the live player and the show pages are built for one-handed scrolling, then scaled up to desktop — never the other way around. Because the front end only ever talks to the API, the same content powers the website and the apps without a second editorial effort. MIRAZA S.R.L. - **Services:** Backend, Frontend, Microservices, Data Management & Analysis, Bots - **Category:** Web Dev - **Website:** https://unimedia.info/ ## The Story Founded in 2007, Unimedia is by far the most popular news site in The Republic of Moldova. With over 8,000,000 monthly page views, Unimedia is daily visited by every third person in the country (as of August 2020). In December 2014 the site was transferred to the actual owner, S.C. MIRAZA S.R.L. After a two-year journey of changing platforms, Unimedia found us and this was the beginning of a coding saga. Back in 2016, UNIMEDIA had 4 main problems: - The lack of a new, modern News CMS - An outdated design - A difficult mobile experience - The "archive" problem The goal was to solve these issues gradually, step by step, always supporting all working previous versions. ## Solutions We started with the layout design and functionality, creating an agnostic frontend environment that would help us switch to any backend platform. Then, we added different microservices that assist the editorial workflow, and finally, we switched to a headless CMS. ## Key Features ### Trend Widget Our trending microservice/widget has the highest recirculation rate according to Google Analytics. It helps readers discover what others consider important right now. ### Journalist's KPI — The "U" Index A comprehensive performance index that considers: number of news published, social interactions, time spent on site, multimedia elements, and errors found. ### Smart Push Notifications An autonomous microservice that creates reader profiles based on site activity. Subscribed users receive push notifications only for news in their zone of interest. Result: only 1 unsubscription per month vs 6,000 new subscriptions monthly. ### Promoting Comments A system that takes active site community discussions to Facebook fans, inviting them to participate on the site when discussions reach a certain engagement level. Source: /case-unimedia/index.md --- # Case Study: Jurnal Jurnal.md and Jurnaltv.md news sites. - **Client:** DGTA Media S.R.L. - **Services:** Frontend, Backend, Architecture, Microservices - **Category:** Web Dev - **Websites:** https://www.jurnal.md/ and https://www.jurnaltv.md/ ## Intro Jurnal Trust Media is the first media holding company in the Republic of Moldova, offering print media, television, radio, and video. The president is Val Butnaru, founder of one of the first independent newspapers in Moldova — Jurnal de Chișinău. The most painful problems were: - The lack of a mobile experience - Speed (both reading and publishing) We accepted this challenge, even though we agreed to work outside our technical recommendations, including the choice of hosting environment and hardware parameters. ## Websites Jurnal Trust Media has two web flagships: Jurnal.md (newspaper-turned-news-portal) and Jurnaltv.md (news site with a TV production accent). The news component gave us the most headache, as there was no difference between the news concepts of both sites, except that the TV site has more video. Nevertheless, we managed to create very different UI/UX far from just "changing the colors". ## Mobile We created a mobile experience from scratch, as it was non-existent. The heavy multimedia load required different UX techniques and backend technologies to engage users without losing functionality, including video and audio experience. ## Architecture In addition to the design challenge, we had to reconsider all the web infrastructure of the holding to create a new architecture. An additional challenge was the maintenance of old news so they could work perfectly in the new frontend/backend system. Source: /case-jurnal/index.md --- # Case Study: HoneyHouse HoneyHouse is a family business (since 2015) making natural honey and honey creams with wild berries and exotic fruits. To take it from a local favourite to an export-ready brand, we built its online store end to end on Shopify — and sales grew fivefold in three months. - **Client:** HoneyHouse (family business, since 2015) - **Services:** Shopify theme & layout, Custom blocks, Integrations, DNS, Email/SMTP - **Category:** E-commerce, Shopify - **Result:** 5× sales in three months - **Programme:** XY Accelerator (XY Partners) — co-financed by the EBRD, with EU support in the Republic of Moldova - **Website:** https://honey-house.md/ ## Problem & Solution HoneyHouse had a great product and a growing ambition: to stop being a shelf in Moldova and start selling like a brand, at home and abroad. What it lacked was a store that could carry that — fast, trustworthy, handling variants, gift sets and the operational details that make online selling work. We built it as the e-commerce workstream of XY Partners' XY Accelerator programme — co-financed by the EBRD, with support from the European Union in the Republic of Moldova. The strategy, marketing and export training came from the programme; the store itself is ours — every Shopify layer: theme and layout, custom Liquid sections and blocks, and the app and API integrations the catalogue needed. We also owned the parts nobody sees: the DNS cutover to the live domain and the email / SMTP setup, so order confirmations and transactional mail land in the inbox. ## Storefront & Merchandising A warm, appetite-led storefront where product photography leads, with custom blocks for collections, gift sets and merchandising the team can rearrange without touching code. Honey, honey creams, gift sets and natural beeswax candles each get their own space. ## Built to Convert Each product page is built around the decision to buy: clear variants, benefits and usage, honest pricing in lei, and Add to cart / Buy now always within reach. The same custom blocks power every product, so a new flavour goes live in minutes. With a checkout that just works and transactional email that reliably arrives, the funnel held — and three months in, sales had grown fivefold. ## Mobile First Most orders start on a phone, so the phone came first: a one-handed hero, thumb-friendly product cards and a frictionless checkout, scaled up to desktop rather than squeezed down. Source: /case-honeyhouse/index.md --- # Case Study: Behovs Registrering Behovs Registrering is a beautifully designed alert form for a real estate management system workflow. > Status: Sold & discontinued. The product was acquired by its operator and the service has since been retired. The case below is a finished chapter we are still proud of. - **Client:** Servicebedriften Myhre AS, Norway - **Services:** Web design, Development, Integration - **Category:** Web Dev, Integration - **Status:** Sold & discontinued ## Problem & Solution Servicebedriften Myhre AS, our Norwegian partners, often come with requests that go beyond a simple technical approach and involve a deeper understanding of how their clients think and act. All this must have a pretty aesthetical form which also does not break the rules of nordic minimalism. Our partners wanted a feedback form that "memorizes" user details from the first usage, has logic for managing users' uploaded files, and tracks email usage. The aim is to bind this tool to a larger ecosystem of APIs and services that maintain the activity of Servicebedriften Myhre AS. This simple, at first sight, feedback form combines a very complex logic of processing the information that users are filling in with some fine-tuned styles and animations. ## Visual Challenges The system is user management agnostic, but the page offers minimal assistance to customers when it comes to user experience. We heavily used intuitive animations and hint strategies to achieve high usability of the form. The system is also multilanguage, remembering users' last choice and taking care of the page's interface. ## Mobile The mobile experience is smooth, taking into consideration each device architecture, connecting, if possible, with the user's camera to ease the picture attaching procedure. Source: /case-behovs/index.md --- # Case Study: Puma Moldova PumaMoldova.md is the official distributor for PUMA in Moldova. > Status: Handed over. This 2015–2016 build now lives on beyond our care and is no longer maintained or managed by us. - **Client:** GHS-COM SRL - **Services:** Web design, Development - **Category:** Web Dev - **Interval:** 2015–2016 - **Status:** Handed over — no longer managed by us - **Website:** https://www.pumamoldova.md/ ## The Story We began working with Puma Moldova back in 2015. Considering different non-technical aspects, PumaMoldova.md did not have even something close to a CMS. Another must-have was to keep the layout and functionality of their "mother" site. All these factors forced us to work with a static site, putting an accent on the graphical aspect and different UX techniques, as the client wanted parts from different Puma sites all over the world. ## Visual Core The design was an eternal dance between event-driven blocks and product-driven ones. The approach was simple: sliders, more sliders, and catchy animations. We heavily exploited all hover ideas and every CSS opportunity to make the content dynamic and appealing to potential customers. ## Other Challenges As the client wanted a potpourri of different design technologies and UI/UX effects, the biggest challenge was to imprint a uniform user experience. The "differentiation" issues became more challenging when Puma Moldova wanted a multilanguage site. This was the moment we adopted PDD — Panic Driven Development. This way we always gave priority to recent issues, assured the necessary process flexibility, and wrote enough code to fix the issue.
